Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team have hit out, after the cables and lightning conductor attached to the roof at its base, were damaged on Saturday night (February 27).

The volunteer team warned that whoever was responsible could have prevented them from having proper communication in the case of an emergency.
A spokesman tweeted: “Disappointing to find damage caused to our VHF aerial overnight. It looks like they were attempting to remove the cables and lightning conductor from the roof.
“Totally unacceptable behaviour and could have left us with limited comms.”

The matter has been reported to the police with a reference number: SD-6675-21-444-00.
