Defibrillator at the Broadway Centre

Additional funding, secured during the filming of a Britbox project and back office income, has been used by Sandown Town Council to provide a defibrillator at the Broadway Centre
The equipment has been installed to be available before user-groups start returning to the centre once Covid-19 guidance permits.

Town Mayor, Gary Young, said: “Following a difficult year for the community, we have been able to generate income that has enabled the town council to instal a new defibrillator at the Broadway Centre. This follows the development of a defib map for the town and Bay Area.
“We have repainted the centre during the lockdown, and installed Covid-safe amenities. This new facility, funded from additional income, will benefit users of the centre as well as the wider community.”

Deputy Mayor, Paul Brading, added: “Groups using the centre, especially those involving vulnerable and disabled members, have supported the provision of this new resource. Prudent financial management has enabled us to install the unit before the centre fully reopens later in the year.”
The town council has worked with the Island’s NHS to ensure the most appropriate unit is in place, and the project is part of the longer term development of services and activities available at the centre.
