Island libraries are running a packed programme of free creative activities throughout the school holidays.
Sessions are taking place at libraries across the Island, with activities ranging from rock painting and clay modelling to t-shirt printing and craft workshops.
At Lord Louis Library, Newport, children can create rock owls, blossom trees and garden wind chimes. Other highlights include butterfly crafts, clay mini-beasts and a ‘garden in a tea-cup’ session.
Sandown Library is offering drop-in crafts and plant pot decorating, while Freshwater Library is running a weekly printing series, including paper, t-shirts, bags and artwork.
Ventnor Library will host a storytelling and craft session on August 13 and a ‘wriggly caterpillar’ workshop on August 23. In Ryde, children can make carnival masks and explore themed crafts from the Story Garden series.
Cowes Library will run a garden-themed craft session on August 16, but parents should note there are no toilet facilities.
Most sessions are suitable for children aged three and above, with many requiring booking due to limited spaces.
Louise Emery, development librarian at the IWC Library Service, said: “We know how important it is for children to stay active and creative over the summer. These sessions are a great way to have fun, try something new and discover the joy of reading.”
