The RS2 (formerly referred to as Rock Solid 2) drop-in youth club is a welcoming space for the Island’s young people, held weekly at the West Wight Sports & Community Centre, in Freshwater. Run by dedicated workers and volunteers from the West Wight Churches Youth Project, the club provides a safe and fun environment where teenagers can unwind, socialise, and take part in a wide range of exciting activities.
Youths attending RS2 have access to a variety of games and entertainment, including Xbox and Wii consoles, pool tables, air hockey, and table tennis. Whether they want to challenge their friends to a game, relax and chat, or simply enjoy the lively atmosphere – there is something for all interests. Best of all, entry is completely free, and there’s always toast and hot drinks available.
Beyond games and socialising, RS2 offers a valuable space for growth and support. Youth workers are always on hand to listen, encourage and help young people navigate any challenges they may be facing. Whether it’s school stress, friendship issues, or deeper personal struggles, the team is always there to provide a friendly ear and reassurance.
The group also offer trips every term to fun destinations such as JR Zone, skates, Superbowl, and HeadHunters, as well as the popular Dreaming The Impossible Festival. These outings give all an opportunity to bond, try new experiences, and create lasting memories.
For those interested, RS2 also provides a space to explore faith and some of life’s big questions.
Club leader, Faye Smith, explained: “It’s brilliant to have this space each week where the young people can come to relax, unwind, and be with friends and youth workers. We’ve been working alongside some of them for several years now, and it’s a real privilege to offer a listening ear and a sense of purpose and hope.”
The club is open to all young people in school years 8-13, and runs every Wednesday during term time from 7pm to 8.30pm.
Whether you’re looking for fun, friendship, or a supportive community, RS2 promises to deliver!
