Cowes Sports manager quits three games into season

Former England international footballer Steve Hunt has stunned Cowes Sports by resigning as their manager just three games into the new season.

The club’s directors were informed of Hunt’s shock decision last night, and he will talk to his players about his departure before tonight’s scheduled training session.

But Hunt insists there has been no bust-up between himself and The Yachtsman, currently the highest ranked football club on the Isle of Wight. Indeed, he has even agreed to stay in temporary charge if required, until a suitable replacement is found.

He has decided he just needs to take a break from football after some 50 years, during which time he was a schoolboy, trainee and then professional player with Aston Villa, West Brom, Coventry, New York Cosmos and England, before taking on scouting, coaching an managerial roles.
