Council changes would cost more

A bid to change the way decisions are made at the IW Council has been delayed, because it will cost more.

At the full council meeting last week, Cllr Geoff Brodie called for a return to the old politically-balanced committee model, which, he says, ran well for decades. Like most authorities, the IW Council uses the leader and cabinet model, and has since 2000.

The motion will now be considered by cabinet members as it would require more staff time and resources — for which there is no budget.
