A sale of exceptional Isle of Wight oil paintings, watercolours, prints, maps, and books, dating from the 18th century to the present day by some of the most celebrated artists and authors, is taking place on Saturday, November 29 and Sunday, November 30 at the Royal Solent Yacht Club, in Yarmouth.
The show includes works by Martin Swan RSMA, Martyn Mackrill, Cavendish Morton RI ROI, Colin Richens RMS ASEA, Ann Knowler SWA, and celebrated 19th century topographical artists including Sir Oswald Brierly, Rowland Langmaid RA, George Gregory, and Hermann Eschke.
The exhibition also shows paintings by eighteen living Island artists renowned for their outstanding depictions of the Island’s landscapes, coastline and adjacent waters. In addition, the exhibition includes important Isle of Wight topographical books and maps.
The exhibition has been arranged by Professor Robin McInnes, OBE FRSA, who is an authority on British landscape and maritime art, including the Isle of Wight, subjects he has written about extensively over many years.
The exhibition is being held once more in the Hudleston Bar of the Royal Solent Yacht Club, with its outstanding views out over the western Solent, with the kind permission of the Club, and is open from 10am-4pm daily; admission is free. Parking is available in the town centre.
