Car show raises funding for two IW charities

Presentation to Ability Dogs

The Vectis Historic Vehicle Club presented a total of £4,000 to two Island charities, following last month’s Classic Car Show.

The show, at the IW County Showground, Northwood, featured all the Island’s classic car clubs and expanded this year to feature stalls, entertainment and open-top bus trips, provided by the IW Bus & Coach Museum in Ryde.

A cheque for £2,500 was presented to Mountbatten Hospice, while Ability Dogs for Young People received £1,500.

This year’s show was dedicated to club member, Garry Driscoll, who lost his fight with cancer in January. He spent nine weeks as an inpatient at the hospice and also had home visits from the Mountbatten nurses.
