A much-loved local fish shop has been broken into overnight.

Captain Stan’s in Cross Street, Ryde had its front door smashed into during the early hours of Wednesday (July 25).

The store was “trashed” and a crowbar was used to break into the front door which will now need to be replaced.

Ruth Curtis, from Captain Stan’s said: “Somebody has crowbarred their way into the shop in the early hours of this morning, we’ve got CCTV from next-door. Some idiot has trashed the shop, it’s all out of the freezer they’ve just turned everything upside down, obviously looking for money.

“I’m just waiting for the police to come at the moment, so I haven’t had a good look to see if anything is gone. But yeah, they’ve trashed the shop.”
