Yarmouth Bridge to close for three days in March for annual maintenance work

Yarmouth Bridge

Yarmouth Bridge will undergo its annual servicing work next month.

Island Roads will carry out maintenance to keep the structure safe and reliable between March 16 and 27.

The road will remain open to pedestrians throughout the work, although there may be minor delays. It will, however, be closed to traffic for up to three days — March 17, 18 and 19 — between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

Mariners are advised to avoid navigating the bridge during this period where possible. Those who need to pass through should contact the harbour master in advance so arrangements can be made.

During the traffic closures, the usual diversion via Thorley Road, Wilmingham Lane and Middle Road will be in place.

An Island Roads spokesman said the work forms part of a planned annual programme to maintain the bridge in good working order and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
