A bag full of bird carcasses has been dumped at a bus stop in Upper Green Road, St Helens.

The ‘curious’ event took place last week, and it was several days before the bag was finally taken away.

IW Observer reader, Alan Henning, said: “I just went to throw something in the bin next to the bus stop on Upper Green Rd, near to the Medical Centre, and a bag caught my attention.

“On closer examination it appeared to be a black dustbin bag full of rotting and decaying birds! I contacted the Environmental Health Department to report them.”

Alan also got in touch with local parish councillor, Jonathan Bacon, who spoke to Island Roads. He said: “It was all very curious. I got in touch with the Island Roads clearing department and it was sorted out.

“The bag was split and you could see the various bits but I don’t know who dumped it there or why. It was left close to a bin, so I suppose whoever did it thought it would be picked up, but it wasn’t very pleasant.”
