Wightlink has cancelled all services on its Portsmouth–Fishbourne route after a “heavy berthing incident” caused damage to both its Gunwharf terminal and St Clare.
The incident, which happened this morning (Tuesday), left the company unable to load or unload vehicles or foot passengers at Gunwharf. Engineers are assessing the damage, and sailings are suspended until at least 3.20pm from Gunwharf and 4.20pm from Fishbourne.
A spokeswoman said: “Due to a heavy berthing incident at our Gunwharf terminal, both our port infrastructure and St Clare have sustained damage. As a result, we are currently unable to load or unload vehicles or foot passengers.”
Wightlink apologised to customers and said staff were working to find ways to minimise disruption, but no alternative sailings on the route can be offered before 4.20pm.
“All other routes are operating as normal,” the company confirmed.
Passengers with urgent travel plans are being advised to make alternative arrangements where possible. Further updates will be issued across Wightlink’s social media channels, and customers are urged to check the company’s website for the latest information.
