An IW councillor says discarded e-scooters are being dumped in the middle of pavements and causing a safety hazard.
Karl Love, Councillor for East Cowes, has produced photographs of the abandoned e-scooters and said: “I’m all for e-scooters, but someone is going to get hurt falling over these scooters as no common sense is being used in returning them to safe locations after they have been used.
“In other parts of the UK, they are retuned to proper docking stations but, on our Island, some people are simply abandoning them in unsafe places.
“I took photos in East Cowes this week, but it’s happening all across our Island and we need to think about safety and, especially, for those people who are partially cited.
“You can see the e-scooters are left in the middle of the path causing obstacles for people with reduced mobility or visual impairments. I’m asking e-scooter users to please consider others and put them to one side so people cannot fall over them. They are quite heavy, too, for some people to move. All that’s required is a little extra care.”
