Huge crowds turned up to celebrate the 60th Shorwell Midsummer Fair in the grounds of the village’s Northcourt House on Saturday (June 18).
At the event there was a falconry display, dog demonstration and live music.
Organiser, Ben Lambert, said: “It was great to see so many people after a two-year absence to help us celebrate our 60th event. The weather was kind to us, although the wind did pick up towards the end which did not dampen our spirits.
“Nearly £12,000 was raised overall, which will be donated to local charities and organisations. This is a fantastic effort by all those involved, and thanks goes to the committee members and helpers, without whom the fair would not be possible. It is amazing to see the local community of Shorwell, and those further afield, come together on these special occasions.”
The funds will be distributed at the fair’s annual meeting on Friday, September 23, when next year’s date will be confirmed.
