Andy Sampson announced as new FC first team manager

Newport Football Club have announced Andy Sampson as their new first team manager.

New chairman, Tony Wake, said the club held rigorous interviews with candidates and, following them, the club chose Sampson amid ‘Port’s relocatation to their new stadium at the Racecourse, Whippingham, for which planning permission was granted two weeks ago.

The appointment was also made with the aim of Sampson helping the club to become highly inclusive of all ages, genders and abilities within the community.

Sampson, 53, replaces interim manager Derek Ohren, who stands down as boss of the relegated Sydenhams Wessex League Premier club at the end of the season.
