The youngest member, competing in Totland Bay Bowls Club Finals Day, was Max Mabey, 11, who was part of the Triples Champions partnering Josie Breeze and Roger Sparks to victory.

It is Max’s first year of competing and he attends the club, together with his grandad, Alan Mabey, who also plays Lawn Bowls. Club ppresident, Pam Everson, made the presentations.

The Ann Wilkinson charity match was played on Sunday, raising £175 for the NSPCC. A total of 30 members took part and it was played over two sets of six ends with the winning team scoring 23 points.

It has been a good season for the club with men’s and ladies’ teams competing in the county leagues and members taking part in county competitions.

One of the men’s pairs made it to the national finals at Leamington. The club played host to 17 tourist matches during this season.

The green is now closed until April, when the club looks forward to another successful season and welcoming new members. Open Days and coaching sessions will be available to all ages in the spring.
