Vintage tractor run raises charity funds

By Press Release Oct 22, 2022

A tractor run, organised by the Vectis Vintage Tractor and Engine Club, raised £260 for the IW Prostate Cancer Support Club on Sunday.

Members, supporters and charity fundraisers met up at The Griffin pub, Godshill. Following breakfast, around 24 tractors took to the backroads heading towards Carisbrooke and on to Gatcombe.

Committee member, David Milson, said: “We had a great day out, going a 30-mile circular route with a tea stop at Sandford and back around Newchurch and Alverstone, finishing at the White Lion, Arreton, with tractors arriving there between 2pm and 3pm.
“The club has been going for around 30 years but for several years we didn’t do much. So, following Covid, a few of us got together and we organised a tractor run in May which was a great success.

“We chose the IW Prostate Cancer Support Group as our charity and, combined with our last run, and money collected during the year, we have now raised more than £1,500 for them.

“This remains our charity for the coming year and we hope to be helping them to raise awareness and collect lots more money for them.”
