Planning strategy delay due to general election announcement

Following the decision of Full Council on May 1 to publish the Island Planning Strategy (IPS), and then submit it to the Secretary of State, the six-week period for public representation was due to start on Monday (June 10).

However, due to the general election being called for July 4, and the pre-election period which restricts what a council can publish, the publication of the IPS has been delayed and the six-week period will now start on Monday, July 8.

The six-week period for public representation is an opportunity for anyone to make comments on the soundness of the IPS, and suggest any changes they think are necessary.

All duly made comments received are then submitted to the Secretary of State together with the IPS and evidence base for an independent planning inspector to review and carry out a public examination.
