The Bay Women’s Institute, formerly known as Lake WI, recently opened and now meet on the third Thursday of the month at the Lions Day & Community Centre, St Urians, New Road, in Sandown from 2pm to 4pm.
The group provides fun and friendship, a chance to learn new skills, get involved within the community and take part in a wide range of activities, including speakers, clubs and outings.
The first event of the new group was a celebration Coronation afternoon tea with prosecco. It was an afternoon of sharing home-made scones, sandwiches and cakes, complete with a quiche fit for a King! There was much laughter as the ladies played a game of pin the diamond on the crown and a royal quiz with a royal raffle to end the meeting.
New members are welcome to meet their mascot, ‘Bay West’, who even has her own Facebook page.
