The volunteers at Seaview Village Community Shop welcomed Susie Sheldon, Lord-Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight, to the shop on Tuesday morning.
At the end of last year, the shop was told that their nomination for a King’s Award for Voluntary Service didn’t result in an award.
However, as the King’s representative on the Island, the Lord-Lieutenant saw their assessment and agreed they were doing something special in Seaview, so asked if she could come and see for herself.
The Lord-Lieutenant discussed the difficulties of running a seasonal business with Sarah Wilkinson, chairman, and David Conway-Hughes, treasurer, before looking around and doing some shopping.
If you are interested in finding out more about volunteering, pop into the shop for a chat, call 616487 or email shopinseaview@outlook.com.
