Lashings World XI at Steephill

Lashings playing at Steephill

Arguably the highlight of Ventnor Cricket Club’s 175th anniversary celebrations takes place on Friday (August 15), when the famous Lashings World XI return to Steephill for the first time in nine years.

Lashings will field a team of international cricketers for the T20 fixture, which will start at 3.30pm, with a licensed bar and refreshments from 1pm. Admission to the match is £5, with entry free for under-16s accompanied by a paying adult.

Previous encounters with the Harlem Globetrotters of world cricket have provided great entertainment for packed Steephill audiences, and spectators can look forward to more terrific action this time around.

Sir Gordon Greenidge, who has fond memories of Steephill, not only with Lashings but also Hampshire, will receive a warm welcome in his ambassadorial role while the one and only Henry Blofeld, the retired BBC Test Match Special commentator, will be on the microphone.
