Bus museum marks 25 year anniversary

By Press Release Oct 6, 2021

Members of the IW Bus and Coach Museum made a commemorative excursion on one of their vehicles last Sunday (Sept 26), to celebrate the organisation’s 25th anniversary.

The 1971 Bristol RE single decker undertook a similar tour in September 1996, after Southern Vectis withdrew its ‘Vintage Fleet’ operation.
The inaugural years of the museum were based in a rented building on Newport Quay – a former timber store. The vehicles and displays were moved to its present building at Park Road, Ryde, at the end of 2014.

A further transport anniversary will be celebrated on the weekend of October 9/10, when the museum will be commemorating the Vectis Bus Co centenary. One of the vintage buses will be taking a trip out from the Ryde premises.
