A trio of celebrity interviewers have been added to the list of star performers at next week’s Isle of Wight Literary Festival.
BBC news presenter Sophie Raworth, television gardening guru and Island resident Alan Titchmarsh and TV and radio star Anneka Rice will all be appearing at the festival to be held in and around Northwood House, Cowes between October 3-6.
Sophie will be talking to her friend and running partner Susie Chan about Susie’s new book Trails and Tribulations – The Running Adventure of Susie Chan, Alan has agreed to interview Countdown star Susie Dent about her debut novel Guilty by
Definition while Anneka Rice, will be talking to author and television celebrity Clare Balding about her latest book Isle of Dogs which examines Brits’ love of canines.
TV journalist and Seaview resident Harriet Hadfield will interview her industry colleague Louise Minchin about Louise’s first thriller, Isolation Island.
Ticket sales for this year’s event have been so buoyant several speakers – including Gyles Brandreth – have been moved to larger venues at the event, such as nearby Cowes Enterprise College, due to demand.
Other star speakers will include celebrated actress Celia Imrie, historian Tracy Borman, rock music author David Hepworth and TV wine expert Helen McGinn. Culinary-themed Lit Feast returns and new events include Write on Wight, a thread dedicated to Isle of Wight authors, many of whom have signed up to show their wares.
The schools programme is back bigger and better with more Island schools than ever taking part.
There is also a festival-opening Jazz Event at Northwood House on Wednesday, October 2.
Festival chair Maggie Ankers said: “We are all gearing up for the start of the event next week and we are really looking forward to welcoming people to what promises to be another highly successful event.
“This year’s programme is the most varied yet and there really is something for every taste.”
