Quartet bring Vivaldi and Bach to Freshwater Hall

Baroque Quartet Red Priest

The Memorial Hall, in Freshwater, hosted the Red Priest Quartet recently, performing their programme “Truly, Madly, Baroque” to a full audience.

The ensemble featured violinist Julia Bishop, cellist Angela East, harpsichordist David Wright, and recorder player Piers Adams, who founded the group and named it for Antonio Vivaldi who had bright red hair and trained as a Catholic priest.

The concert opened with Vivaldi’s Concerto in A minor, and included works by Handel, Purcell and Corelli. J.S. Bach’s Adagio in B flat, known from the film Truly, Madly, Deeply, was also performed.
