Newport life savers appeal for more volunteers

The unit’s volunteers provide first aid at many local events

St John Ambulance is looking for more adult volunteers to join its team of first aiders in Newport.

With a new year just around the corner, and with many people looking for a new challenge or volunteering opportunity, the first aid charity is keen to hear from anyone who may want to get involved (aged 18 and over).

The unit’s volunteers provide first aid at many local events, and there are also opportunities to attend national events including the Virgin Money London Marathon.

Sandra Pritchard, volunteer area manager, said: “We’re really keen to expand our friendly team, to enable us to get out and about to more events in our local area. Personally, I find volunteering with St John Ambulance extremely rewarding, and have picked up new skills, such as learning first aid, as well as meeting new people, and visiting different places.”

No previous experience is required as full training will be given free of charge, and volunteering is flexible, so people can give time in a way that suits them.

The closing date for this post is Tuesday 1 January 2019 and interviews will take place on Wednesday 9 January 2019.

Successful candidates must be able to attend a welcome event on Sunday 20 January 2019 held in Newport and will need to attend a series of training sessions in the following weeks.
