Jessie J made a young Islander’s day with a hug and chat – and even learned a few words of Romanian!
Jessie came off the Main Stage on Saturday, still crying with emotion after her performance, when she met Nathan Jones, 22, from Cowes.
Nathan has a rare genetic anomaly, Alif’s Syndrome, which means he has learning difficulties but he was waiting offstage having been given a VIP pass, as he works for Isle of Wight Distillery, who were running the bar in the Guest Village near the media centre.
Nathan, who said he was the star’s “biggest ever fan” was also in tears as they hugged and his father, Clive, said: “He is a top fan of hers and it was the first time he had seen her perform, although he has seen her on The Voice many times.
“They had a hug and a chat and were both crying; it was very emotional. Nathan’s mother lives in Romania and he visits once a year, so knows a few sentences. Jessie J is going to tour there shortly, so he was able to give her a few words and also invited her to say at his mother’s B&B!”
Nathan also now has his idol’s festival pass as a lasting momento of the very special encounter. You can see a video of the meeting at
