Nigel Hartley, the CEO of Mountbatten hospice, has received his MBE from HRH The Princess Royal at Windsor Castle.
Nigel, was given the recognition in the New Year’s Honours list, and said: “I was very proud and humbled to receive the award; it was a very special moment for me and my family.
“I dedicate this award to our entire Mountbatten family of staff, volunteers and supporters, who continue to be an inspiration to me.
“It recognises the extraordinary work of a team of people who continually strive to ensure our local communities have access to good and effective 24/7 care, even during financially challenging and unprecedented times.
“HRH The Princess Royal fondly remembered her recent visit to Mountbatten and spoke about the significant role that hospices play within their local communities, and how those local communities continuously raise money to keep the work developing.”
