A cardiac charity has celebrated fundraising success at its recent quiz night, which raised more than £1,500.
Hosted at the Royal Solent Yacht Club, the event saw ten teams battle it out in an evening of laughter and friendly competition. By the end of the night, a total of £1,566 had been raised to support Heartbeat’s work providing specialised equipment, services and facilities for cardiac patients and their families.
The winning team was Hearts of Gold (RWR Associates), with Sizewell B-Cup (Angelsons Ltd) coming in as runners-up. The prize for Best Team Name went to On the Beer with No Idea! (Churchers Solicitors), while Hose Rhodes Dickson took home the wooden spoon.
The quiz followed Heartbeat’s recent Healthy Heart Checks at Quay Arts Café in Newport on October 15, where 30 people received free heart health assessments. The event aimed to raise awareness of the importance of staying active and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Heartbeat’s marketing manager, Tanya Harder, said: “Taking care of your heart doesn’t have to be complicated – simple steps like eating a balanced diet, staying active, and even going for a daily walk can make a big difference.”
