The Fairy Godmother waved her magic wand to sprinkle some stardust over the East Cowes Christmas lights switch-on in King’s Square on Friday.
The crowds were treated to Christmas songs from Holy Cross and Queensgate Foundation Primary School with the cast of Cinderella from the Amy White Theatre. Performers included the Fairy Godmother (Vicky Sowerby), Prince Charming (Charlie Merricks), Buttons (Callum Davies) and Cinderella (Emily Smith) who toured the town during the afternoon before switching on the lights with help from girls from the East Cowes Carnival.
The lights are provided by East Cowes Town Council with four decorated trees spread around the town this year.
Cinderella is being performed at East Cowes Town Hall on December 13 and 14 with some performances already sold out. There are still tickets, priced £10, available for the 6.30pm performance on the Sunday.
