A cheque for £900 was donated to the Verbum Dei centre, Carisbrooke, at the IW Catenians Association during its annual Clergy Night at Lakeside Park Hotel, Wootton.

The Catenians is a world-wide network of Catholic men who meet regularly to enjoy each other’s company and help and support each other.

The money was raised from fund-raising at its monthly meetings at The Castle Inn, Newport.

Past president, Eddie McMahon, made the presentation to Sister Catherine Cruz at the event, which was attended by priests from all the Island’s churches, as well as Abbot Xavier Perrin from Quarr Abbey, and current circle president, Ian Looseley.

Around 30 members and guests attended the dinner, at part of the Ladies’ Night, one of many events held with members’ wives throughout the year.
