A High Street cafe in Cowes that’s been trading for over 30 years is set to close its doors in April.

It’s understood Eegons of Cowes on the High Street is closing the doors for good after the owner of the property announced plans to sell it once the lease expires.

The cafe owners took to Facebook on Tuesday (January 8) to wish their patrons well as they announced the closure of the business.

Rod and Jenny posted on social media saying: “Sorry to be so formal .. Sadly our lease has come to an end and our landlord wishes to sell the property. so after some 30 years of more Eegons will close its doors by mid April for the last time. It’s perhaps the end of an era, where we have met so many lovely people and had so many laughs as well a very few serious moments.

“The whole team are extremely upset about this outcome and we all thank you for your loyalty in the past. However should we find suitable alternative premises and investment who knows, just like Phoenix we may just arise again!

“Please believe me, Karen & I are exploring every avenue so any suggestions or comments will be appreciated.”

The cafe is expected to be permanently closed by mid April 2019.
