The remains of four wild ducks have been found in a ditch between Nettlestone and St Helens, with their breasts removed.

The grisly discovery was made today (Sunday, January 6) in a ditch at Attrill’s Lane, off Eddington Road. The ducks had been plucked at the roadside and their feathers left scattered nearby.

The bird’s deaths were not the result of an animal attack as the breast meat had been cut out with a knife.

It is currently open season on ducks (September until the end of January). However, it is the manner in which the ducks’ remains were discarded at the side of the road that has caused controversy.
