May I, through your good offices, warn Blue Badge holders renewing their badges through the IW Council that they could be without a badge for two to six weeks due to the council’s current system.
I am currently without a badge (it expired on November 19).
I applied for renewal on September 4.
I received a request for further information (10 page form) on November 1 (apparently they don’t look at applications until four weeks before the expiry of the old badge).
I was told that an appointment for assessment would be made in December (they are currently running four weeks behind).
As I was able to take up a cancelled assessment on November 14, I am hopeful of getting my badge in the next few weeks (allow two weeks for submission, printing and return of the badge from the mainland).
Please would you let other disabled people know that this could happen with their application, and that wheelchair users like myself, who can’t utilise ordinary parking spaces, may have considerable difficulties and incur extra expenses.
