A plan to build holiday accommodation out of shipping containers has been submitted to the council.

Isle of Wight Council (IWC) received the plans on Friday (July 27) for the Forest Road development.

The holiday accommodation site will feature five up-cycled shipping containers for rental purposes.

The five acre plot of land has previously been used for grazing sheep and has even had Christmas trees grown on it.

The site is rural yet close enough to transport links and Newport town centre, as well as being near to footpaths and a pub.

The applicants want to build accommodation with “tranquility” at its heart. The application states, “the holiday accommodation will be marketed on the basis of escapism, integration with the natural environment and individuality”.
