Cars have been removed from Ryde town centre in preparation for an annual charity event.

HSS Hire & Traffic Management Isle of Wight took to Facebook to warn car owners their vehicles could be towed on Sunday (July 22) at around 6.30am.

The Ryde Slide event sponsored by Wightlink raises money for local charities by allowing fundraisers to plummet down Union Street on a 200m inflatable water slide.

Now in its fourth year, the family oriented event runs from 10am to 6pm and local firemen will be on hand to keep the slide as slippery as possible, if you’re in the area be sure to check it out. This is not to be missed.

At around 7.30am HSS posted a picture of a black Audi TT being lifted onto the back of a recovery vehicle.

At around 8.30am the slide was set up and HSS posted a selfie with Isle of Wight Council cabinet member for regeneration, business development, tourism and events and Ryde North East Conservative councillor Wayne Whittle.
